On Wednesday, the 25th of September, 2019, HERON Group and Y.M.C.A. announced their collaboration in the framework of the grand sponsorship by the number one private energy supplier and producer towards one of Thessaloniki’s historical unions.
This sponsorship includes the renaming of the Indoor Sports Center to “Y.M.C.A. – HERON – Mimis Tsikinas” and the sponsorship of the basketball, volleyball, handball and basketball academy teams.
HERON supports the children and youth of Thessaloniki through Y.M.C.A., one of the city’s historical unions. This sponsorship is a gesture of gratitude by HERON for Y.M.C.A.’s trust in selecting HERON as its energy supplier for all its facilities. HERON supports the extended family of Y.M.C.A. and the city of Thessaloniki by sponsoring the sports teams of Y.M.C.A. and also by supplying 20 HERON e-Bikes, placed in Y.M.C.A. square, to be used by everyone who wishes to contribute to an eco-friendlier way of transportation for the entire city.
A few brief words about Y.M.C.A.
The Young Men’s Christian Association of Thessaloniki was founded in 1921 as a charitable not-for-profit union with a strong presence in the city. Y.M.C.A. is housed in one of Thessaloniki’s most historical buildings and it also has branches in Kalamaria and Asvestochori. The history of the association spans almost a century and currently looks after the 4th generation of citizens of Thessaloniki. Y.M.C.A. is both a symbol and a champion of human values and stands as loyal and lifelong partner to its members. Through sports, education, camping, social contribution and volunteer work, Y.M.C.A. aims to achieve development of bodies, combined with balanced development of mind, spirit, soul and sociability of children and youth alike.
